LLP Alumni Seminar with Dr. Anna Dolidze

Dr. Anna Dolidze, parliamentary secretary of the Georgian President, spoke to the alumni of the Leiden Leadership Programme about her personal leadership, the matryoshka problems in Georgia, and on being a fox and definitely not a hedgehog.


Understanding yourself: worth making time for

Every year the international leadership course of the Leiden Honours Academy, the International Leiden Leadership Programme (ILLP), attracts master’s students from all over the world. In June, this year’s 25 students will get their certificates, but that is not the most important part, according to two of them.

Public Leadership Challenge: finding new solutions to complex issues

Monday afternoon 11 January saw the first Public Leadership Challenge: a gathering of professionals, academics and students. The theme was a hotly debated topic: the refugee crisis. Among the participants looking for solutions to this complex issue were four students from the (International) Leiden Leadership Programme.

The brains behind morality: a lecture by prof. Patricia Churchland

To the untrained eye, rats, Daniel Dennett and neocortices do not seem to have anything in common. Within the hour, however, renowned professor emerita Patricia Smith Churchland from the Department of Philosophy of the University of California (San Diego), eloquently linked these offbeat topics together in her compelling lecture “The brains behind morality”.

What is your vision on democracy?

What is your vision on democracy? That was the main question for a project set up by Honours College of Leiden University and the S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University in Kazachstan. Two Dutch and two Kazakh students shared their points of view in essays, which were then discussed in an online video meeting. The essays were based on various famous and less famous quotes about democracy, such as Churchill's: "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others".


Leiden students visit the Youth Forum 2015

Four (former) students from the Leiden Leadership Programme represented Leiden University during the G200 Youth Forum 2015. András Pleszel, master’s student in the International Relations programme told us about his experiences.


The Heritage Heist: protecting history

The conference named “The Heritage Heist”, organised by Leiden University on 18 May, is going to be a unique opportunity to learn more and simultaneously share your views on the destruction of world heritage.


LLP students mediate in Paris

Emilie Stumphius and Lennard Kosterman competed in the 10th Business Mediation Competition in Paris. The two Leiden Leadership Programme students were the first team from Leiden University to participate, after winning a wildcard at the Dutch Mediation Competition.
